Christantus Uche Ignites Dominant Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Even though entering their maiden European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Without key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually secures them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.
A further three points in their next match against Finnish KuPS ought to be enough to secure straight passage to the last 16, especially following a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Grasp the Moment
This match offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second game in succession.
A Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season proved no match against a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.

Shelbourne were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
